Ozone Advanced Oxidation

Simpson Environmental Corporation was one of the first to file a Canadian Patent for Ozone Generators to be used in water treatment. It currently has a U.S. Patent approved and a Canadian Patent filed on the core technology used in its various water treatment systems.

Simpson has developed its own proprietary ozone generators that are superior to all known competitors on a price versus performance basis (U.S. Patent #6,833,121). Ozone is used as an environmentally friendly disinfectant and oxidant to treat water or wastewater. The technology involves the use of ozone alone or in combination with other technology to provide advanced oxidation reactions along with appropriate filtration to achieve improved water quality.

Dewatering

The Company uses a patented, screw-press dewatering device manufactured in part in Japan and in part in Canada. The U.S. Patent 5,380,436 covers this technology. The Volute is a revolutionary new way to dewater solids that has received widespread acceptance in Japan and is now being installed in locations around the world. North American installations include food processing plants and municipal water treatment facilities.

Organic Waste Conversion

Bio Balance, a Simpson affiliated company, uses an accelerated process for aerobically composting organic waste material into a fully bio-stabilized state within 30 days. A high efficiency, multi-channel, indoor composter converts the organic waste on a continuous flow basis. The critical factors for success include the real-time monitoring of the moisture, heat, oxygen flow throughout the composting material as well as the recipe itself to ensure optimal conditions for pathogen destruction, nutrient retention and its bonding to the organic matter as the compost achieves bio-stability.  This phase also is a source of thermal energy and marketable carbon credits.

Fertilizer Production

Bio Balance moves the bio-stabilized compost to its finishing operations where it is graded, mechanically screened, treated to customer specifications in terms of nutrient balance, particle size and shape using a blending process. The material is then compressed into pellets in a crumble or granular form. The product is bagged and stacked for shipping. NOTRA has granted exclusive use of its patents in Canada and the United States to Bio Balance. The U.S. patent number is US 6,645,267 B1, 11 November 2003. The Canadian patent number is 2,375,983, dated 08 January 2007.

Growing Media

Bio Balance also uses a unique NOTRA designed and validated process for finishing fully bio-stabilized organic compost into growing media for horticultural uses. The material is mechanically screened, mixed with suitable humified organic matter and bulking agents. The plant growing media can then be used for field crops or houseplants. The U.S. patent number is US 6,645,267 B1, 11 November 2003.

The superior performance of Notra Pure Organic Fertilizer and Growing Media was successfully validated in Agriculture Canada's greenhouse facility.  A complete set of validation reports and data are available on request.
