Don Cooper, P.Eng, M.Eng.
Simpson Environmental Corporation, President

Following a distinguished career at the Department of National Defence, Don joined Bell Canada, followed by Ericsson Communications, IBM/Rolm and Ericatel, where he led the merger with Tie/communications and subsequent management buy-out. As President and CEO of Ericatel, he took the Company from start-up to the Globe & Mail's Report on Business List of Canada's Top 300 Private Companies. Don quickly adapted to his lead role at Simpson, opening new markets overseas for its own patented products and sourcing advanced technologies to compliment its own product line in the home market. The result is its leadership position in dewatering processes and the water treatment industry. Don's charitable work includes serving as a Director for the Juno Beach Association (see insert). Don also holds a B.Eng from the Royal Military College (RMC) and an M.Eng. from Concordia University.


Jim Simpson, B.Eng, M.B.A.
Managing Director

Jim is a graduate Mechanical Engineer from the Royal Military College of Canada. His long time association with his father’s business has allowed him to gain great familiarity with the ozone industry. Jim Simpson has also had extensive experience as a management recruiter following an earlier career in telecommunications with Nortel and consulting with Deloitte Touche.

Don Carr, B.A, M.B.A.
Bio Balance President

Don has a solid background in sales and marketing management at Bell, Xerox and Nortel. Since the mid-nineties, as President of three diverse business sector leaders, each facing unique market challenges, he helped transform Mary Kay Cosmetics, Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS) and the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC). IDC controls over twenty-five Arctic-based business ventures focused on sustainable resources. This exposure marked his own transition to involvement in environmental remediation services at NOTRA Inc. and the launch of Bio Balance.

Bob Novitsky, P. Eng., CD
Bio Balance Managing Director

Bob is also CEO of Notra Organics Inc., a major investor in Bio Balance.  In 1990, he founded NOTRA Environmental Services Inc., a provider of contract technical personnel and environmental engineering services. His track record includes the development and commercialization of sustainable development technologies that has included from concept the successful launch of a multi-plant business that converts waste wood into medium density fibreboard. His positive, creative and determined spirit encourages everyone to follow his lead and give their very best. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the RMC, an Ocean Engineering degree and a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Bob retired from the Canadian Navy in 1988 with the rank of Commander.

George Goldsmith, B.Sc., M.B.A, C.A.
Bio Balance Financial Advisor

George worked with one of Canada's most successful leveraged buy-out boutiques and then served as Vice President of a large publicly traded conglomerate before establishing a corporate finance consultancy in the mid 1980's. He has successfully financed, reorganized and operated numerous businesses across a wide variety of services, products, and processes. He has taught in the CICA professional development program and has authored a variety of articles and one book on finance-related matters. With his science background, business acumen and knowledge of the composting industry, he is a key member of company's leadership team.

Vitali Gringauz
Operations Manager

Mr. Gringauz has worked for Simpson Industries for 12 years. He is a graduate Electronics/Electrical Technologist from the USSR. He has extensive experience in manufacturing and the application of ozone. Mr. Gringauz provides sales application assistance and design expertise.

Doug Cooper
Environmental Technician

Doug works in the Company's service department and is responsible for repair services, ozone air applications, and support for Volute dewatering installations. Doug performs field demonstration and startup testing on sludge dewatering applications. Doug is a 2004 honours graduate of Mohawk College's Environmental Science Technician program.
